What is BMI?
BMI (Body Mass Index) is an important standard for measuring body fatness and health. It is calculated using height and weight with the formula: BMI = Weight(kg) ÷ Height²(m).
BMI Limitations
- Does not distinguish muscle from fat; muscular individuals may have higher BMI
- Not applicable to children and adolescents under 18
- Not applicable to pregnant and breastfeeding women
- Age, gender, bone density and other factors are not considered
